I'm Max Hennessy, a Senior IT Engineer. I've been working in infrastructure and cloud operations inside media companies for the better part of a decade.

The work spans identity and access management, cloud migrations, PAM tooling, endpoint fleet management, and generally keeping the lights on for teams that are smaller than the environments they're supporting.

This is where I write about that world. Sometimes that's a practical account of something I've built or broken. Sometimes it's just picking apart a new feature or approach that's worth understanding properly, whether or not I've had reason to use it yet.

Background

I've worked across the full stack in media environments: bare metal through to cloud, endpoint fleets, and identity and access. AWS, Okta, Terraform, and PAM tooling come up the most, usually because there's no one else around to do it. Small teams end up covering a lot of ground, but what stays the same is making sure the environment actually works and doesn't fall over.
